Log Home Academy Learning Series: Week 1

This is the first weekly installment of Mountain Creations Log Home Academy Learning Series. This week we will be discussing the maintenance of our log homes.
Interior Maintenance
Mountain Creations uses only the highest quality Northern White Cedar for our Exterior Log Walls as well as our Interior Tongue & Groove. We provide all of the T & G necessary to cover all of your interior walls, ceilings & closets unless the customer specifies otherwise. With the interior completely cedar there is virtually NO MAINTENANCE! Cedar has been ranked by the USDA Forestry Division as one of the highest quality woods to build with for these simple reasons: low moisture content, high r-factor, and naturally resistant to rot & decay...All of these factors add up to a low maintenance log home that you can enjoy for generations to come.
While most of our customers complete with interiors of their homes using NWC (Northern White Cedar) T & G some want the look of drywall. It is our job to provide the customer with their dream home and if that means incorporating drywall then we are happy to help. With that being said, the drywall will be the only interior maintenance on the inside of this home. As with any conventional home, drywall requires painting, patching & cleaning.
Exterior Maintenance
If you have ever driven a back country road and seen a log home tented for treatment, you have every right to be concerned about the quality of your log home! For years, log home companies have sold substandard materials at a lower price without telling customers the risks involved. At Mountain Creations we ONLY provide the best Northern White Cedar logs. By incorporating good quality materials in your home like Cedar you are setting yourself up for a successful relationship with your new home. The exteriors of our log homes only require staining approximately every 4-6 years. We supply the first application of Sikkens Cetol Stain with our log packages because we want our customers to use the best product available. With a variety of colors available, this along with the UV exposure at your home sight will determine the length of time between each stain application.
As you can see the maintenance to your Solid Cedar Mountain Creations Log Home is minimal, leaving you extra time and money to enjoy your new log home with your family.
